Vision and Samba series PLCs, SMS Send/Receive support using UCR-B8 router

VisiLogic 9.8.94 will support Unitronics UCR-B8 series 4G/LTE routers for SMS send and receive functionality.

This article describe the steps needed be done to allow Vision and Samba series PLCs send and receive SMS text messages using UCR-B8 router via RS-232 serial communication.

*Please note that Unitronics MJ10-22-CS76 adapter usage is strongly recommended.


Router Settings:

  1. Connect the router to your PC or network and navigate to the login page.
  2. Login the router and navigate to Services->RS232/RS485 menu
  3. Under RS232 tab:
    1. Enable the RS232 communication, select the communication properties (baud rate, data bits, parity, stop bits and flow control)
    2. Select Console on Serial Type combo-box

  • VisiLogic:
  • Use the following Com Initialize settings:

    1. Set same communication properties as defined on the router side.
    2. Select Router as Modem Type and UCR on the combo-boxes.
    3. Username should be always root and Password is the same password used to login the router web interface.
