Using the PDF Viewer:

On the Unistream Screens under the Media folder toolbox you have the option to use our PDF Viewer.

Drag and Drop the widget to the screen and enlarge the size of the Viewer.

In the Properties Window:

1. Select either Direct (Project) or Indirect (External) for the Location parameter.

  •    Note - If you program has a lot of screens and trends on it the Direct option might give you an error after scrolling past a few pages due to limitations on the PLC for User Memory.

2. If you go the Direct option, select the pdf from your PC to load and this is all that is needed before downloading to a PLC controller.

3. If you go the Indirect option, select either External SD or DOK (USB stick) for the Drive Type.

4. For the Path field you will need to setup a String-ASCII global tag with the Maximum string length to include the entire Power-Up Value which is the folder and filename of the PDF on the Drive type to get it to load on the HMI screen.

5. Create a new Tag by selecting the pencil when moving your mouse cursor over the red <EMPTY> text. Set the Max String Length to 25 or larger if needed

6. For the Power-Up Value:

  • When placing your pdf file in the root directory or main default folder of the SD card or DOK stick the Power-Up Value will be as an example my filename is spec104. The Power-UP value would then be spec104.pdf and the select Save and select the download option to download to the PLC.
  • When placing your pdf file in a sub directory of the SD card or DOK stick, create a new folder and insert the file into that folder that I will use as an example will be Demo. The Power-Up value would then be /Demo/spec104.pdf and then select Save and select the download option to download to the PLC.
  • If using one of the predefined folders already on the SD card like say the Docs folder then use the picture below under the Syntax column to setup the Power-Up value for that specific folder that can contain the media files, PDF is a media file, with the .ext being a .pdf after the filename like shown above:
